YouScience Introduction

In a continuing effort to bring the best and most up-to-date tools to your student for the college process and beyond, I have joined with YouScience to introduce a comprehensive aptitude assessment for my students. This assessment is provided to College Made Clear students at no additional charge. I’m particularly excited to introduce YouScience to my families because the YouScience assessment results will be available to students for 10 years and will be a consistent personal and career development resource that goes with students as they embark on their journey to a fulfilling career.

The YouScience assessment profile uses engaging exercises (or ‘brain games’) to deliver real data about students’ aptitudes or natural abilities, which set around age 14 and remain stable throughout their lifetime. Aptitude is then combined with a student’s interests to show them where they are most likely to find satisfaction in college and beyond.

After a short meeting with me where I introduce YouScience, students then complete the 90-minute assessment on their own. The assessment is made of up 11 sections; students can take breaks between sections as needed (but not in the middle of a section). Note: for the best result, students must take these assessments free of ALL noise and distractions and have a stable internet connection. Mobile and tablet devices are not suitable for testing.

After completing the assessment, students will schedule a 60-minute meeting with me to discuss the results. The YouScience assessment will be used to identify or confirm areas of study, discover careers of interest, prepare a resume and as a springboard to develop college and scholarship essay topics, among other things. At the end of this meeting, students will be encouraged to share their results with parents; results reports will also be available for download.
